Save the Date: BFC Meeting on October 3

Please hold Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for the next Boise Forest Coalition Meeting at the Idaho Fish and Game Trophy Room at 600 S Walnut Street, Boise.

September 5th BFC Meeting Location Change!

All,

Please note that the location of the September 5th BFC meeting has been changed due to scheduling conflicts.

 

We will now be meeting in the public meeting room of the Pioneer Federal Credit Union Building at 2350 Broadway Ave, Boise.

 

Also, a reminder that we are still recruiting participants for our Citizen Science Field Day on September 10th. Please share this event with your networks and reach out to Randy Fox at rfox@idahoconservation.org with any questions or RSVPs.

September 5th BFC Meeting Agenda + Sinker Creek –Boise Ridge Open House

The agenda for the September 5th Boise Forest Coalition meeting has been posted.


In addition, the Boise National Forest is hosting a public open house for the Sinker Creek – Boise Ridge project the evening of Thursday, September 5th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Collister Library. Project staff will share information on the following:

  •         Existing forest health and hazard fuel conditions
  •         Proposed action modifications in response to comments received during scoping
  •         Potential impacts to recreation
  •         Potential haul routes


Boise Forest Coalition members are encouraged to attend! Please reach out to Tera Little, Forest Planner, at tera.little@usda.gov if you have specific questions about the open house.

Boise Forest Coalition Field Day on September 10th

Please join the Boise Forest Coalition and the Boise National Forest on Tuesday, September 10th for a Citizen Science Field Day near the Sage Hen area of the Boise National Forest. Participants will learn how to conduct a variety of monitoring activities, including:

  1. Photo monitoring plots
  2. Hydro meter stations
  3. Unauthorized route assessments
  4. Wildlife monitoring with game cameras
  5. Legacy tree surveys

 

The goal of the field day is to train interested individuals on the role of monitoring and how to use associated equipment and tools. Participants will then be prepared to assist volunteers at the Boise Forest Coalition’s Volunteer Work Day next spring. All are welcome!


Please send any questions and an RSVP to Randy Fox at rfox@idahoconservation.org by Friday, September 6th.


Trip Details:

  •          Participants should meet at either the Boise National Forest Supervisor’s Office at 7:00 a.m. OR the High Valley Guard Station at 9:00 a.m. Participants should anticipate returning to Boise by 5:00 p.m.
  •          Participants should bring food, water, and sturdy shoes. Boise National Forest will provide hard hats and monitoring equipment.

September 5th Meeting + Field Day Doodle Poll

Please save Thursday, September 5th, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for the next Boise Forest Coalition meeting. We will meet at the Idaho Fish and Game Trophy Room at 600 S Walnut Street, Boise. An agenda will be sent out in advance of the meeting.

 

We are also planning our fall Boise Forest Coalition Field Day. As a reminder, this field day is an opportunity for members and other interested stakeholders to join our Citizen Science Monitoring Team in setting up photo monitoring plots, as well as learn about other types of monitoring for wildlife, water quality, and conditions of unauthorized routes. Save the Date: Lost Horse Field Trip on Tuesday, August 6th

The Cascade Ranger District will host a Boise Forest Coalition Field Trip to view the Lost Horse Project on Tuesday, August 6th.  The field trip will begin at the Cascade Ranger District at 10:00 a.m. Participants will carpool to three different locations within the project area and will return to the Ranger Station at approximately 3:00 p.m. Participants should pack a lunch, water, and appropriate clothing.
